Ping
Ping is a basic network diagnostic that checks for a response from a host and measures round-trip time. This page is a guide and does not send ping requests.
How is ping measured?
Ping commonly sends an echo request and measures how long the reply takes, in milliseconds. Repeated measurements can help reveal delay or packet loss between the testing device and destination.
Does no reply mean a host is offline?
Not necessarily. A firewall, router, or host may block or rate-limit ping traffic while its website or other services remain available. Use authorized diagnostics and consider checking the specific service as well.
